We are seeking area business and group sponsorships for our 8th Annual Critter Classic Golf Scramble. This popular charity event will be held Saturday, April 16 at the prestigious Riverwood Golf Club, located at SR 776, at 4100 Riverwood Drive, Port Charlotte.
Over one-third of golfer spots have already been filled, and golfers are encouraged to sign up as quickly as possible in order to secure a spot for their team.
Your registration fee as a golfer includes a continental breakfast, green fees and golf cart, golf bag handling, two drink tickets, and a great buffet lunch. The continental breakfast opens at 7 a.m., and check-in is at 7:45 a.m. with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. Mulligans, a 50/50 raffle and other great raffle prizes are available too. Harbor Style Magazine just opened voting for its annual “Harbor’s Hottest” contest! We would like to compete for one of the categories: Best Fundraising Gala. For the last two years, we have been voted a finalist for this category and would LOVE if we were able to win 1st place this year!
Voting is free and requires just your email address and some basic info. The ballot is open until March 18th and can be assessed online at www.harborstyle.com. You can vote for any number of categories. Once you submit your ballot, you are entered in to win a weekend for 4 at the Four Points in Punta Gorda.

We are excited to announce that tickets for our 8th Annual Tennis Ball are now available! The event will be held from 6:00-9:00 PM, Wednesday, January 27, 2016, in the Clubhouse at the Boca Grande Club. This season’s special fun and fundraiser will feature a sit down dinner, beverages, and an exciting live and silent auction. The auctions will offer upscale items, including art and entertainment packages. Last year’s festivities raised over $40,000, benefiting the services, programs and homeless animals entrusted in our care!
Tickets are $125 and can be purchased at our Adoption Center located at 6781 San Casa Drive, Englewood, at any one of our three thrift stores, at the Boca Grande Club, or through PayPal here. Dinner and beverages are included with the ticket.
The Tennis Ball serves to kick off the Boca Grande Club’s six week Professional Tennis Exhibition tournament. It will be held every Wednesday from February 3rd through March 9th at the Club. There will be men’s, women’s and mixed doubles, featuring top professional and collegiate players.

During the month of October, we will be featuring special adoption fees of $10 for dogs, plus $12 for the rabies vaccine. Not to leave our feline companions behind, we have also reduced fees for cats to $25 plus the $12 rabies inoculation. Normally the adoption fees are $85 plus the rabies vaccine.
There are many advantages of adopting a shelter pet. All of our adoptable cats and dogs are already spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped. This means they are truly ready to go home! Besides the material conveniences of adopting a shelter pet, you can also feel good about giving a home to a homeless cat or dog when you adopt one.

There are only a few days left for you to send in your pet’s best photo to be featured in our 2016 Pet Calendar Photo Contest. So don’t disappoint your pet and get them in on time! There are four convenient ways to enter your pet’s photos into the contest. You are able to upload your pet’s photos online at www.humane.org in addition to mailing in, emailing, or dropping off your entry at our animal care center located at 6781 San Casa Drive, Englewood. All submissions must be received no later than August 31, 2015.
Once you upload your pet’s photo online, the photo will appear in the online gallery of the photo contest and become open to voting by the general public. Even if you don’t submit your pet’s photo online, you can request for the photo to be uploaded to the online gallery. You can vote for your pet’s photo with votes that are a $1 donation each, with a minimum donation of $5 (five votes).
Encourage your friends and family to vote for your pet’s photo! The 62 online photos with the most votes will be eligible for final judging by an independent panel for the front cover, back cover, pet of the month (12), and honorable mentions (48). All acceptable photo entries will appear in the calendar.
Each photo is subject to a $25 entry fee, which includes a complimentary 2016 Pet Calendar. You can pick up your complimentary calendar starting in November 2015 at our adoption center, or have the calendar shipped to you directly for an additional $4 donation. Winners will be announced on www.humane.org by September 14, 2015.
One hundred percent of the proceeds from this annual pet calendar go directly towards supporting our programs, services, and homeless pets. For official rules of the pet photo contest visit our website or call us at 941-474-7884 with any additional questions you may have.
