Didn’t Make It to the Tennis Ball?

You can still help us! Vote for a chance to win a harborside weekend for four:

Tennis ball Dog

Harbor Style Magazine just opened voting for its annual “Harbor’s Hottest” contest! We would like to compete for one of the categories: Best Fundraising Gala. We were a finalist for this category last year and would love if we were able to win 1st place this year!

Voting is free and requires just your email address and some basic info. The ballot is online at www.harborstyle.com. You can vote for any number of  categories. Once you submit your ballot, you are entered in to win a weekend for 4 at the Wyvern Hotel in Punta Gorda.

When you vote, please enter Suncoast Humane Society Tennis Ball and Tournament under the Fundraising Gala category. Results from this Harbor’s Hottest contest will be printed in the June 2015 issue.

Thank you so much for your votes!

Please note: one ballot per unique email address is allowed, and multiple ballots from the same email address will void the votes.

(Why is this important? Community awards like this one help us qualify for some grants that require proof of community engagement. Grants help us continue to provide our services and programs, helping more animals and helping improve our community overall!)

Grand Opening of Port Charlotte Thrift Store

Port Charlotte Thrift Store storefront

Our Port Charlotte thrift store will have its grand opening on Monday, February 9! The thrift store is located in the Village Marketplace Plaza, located at 1825 Tamiami Trail, Port Charlotte. To help celebrate, a 25% discount off any items priced $2 or more will be offered at all of our three thrift stores in Englewood, Port Charlotte, and Venice.

At the Port Charlotte thrift store, Suncoast Humane Society Pet Therapy Teams will be greeting visitors and shoppers on the grand opening day, and two adoptable dogs from the Society will also be visiting the store from 10 a.m. to noon. An exclusive coupon will be handed to shoppers at the Port Charlotte thrift store, good for 20% of any item $2 or more on a future purchase. The coupon is valid through April 1 and cannot be used in conjunction with any other sale.

We hope to see you there!

Feel the Feline Love!

We want you to feel the feline love this Valentine’s Day, so we’re offering you an adoption special on our adoptable cats from February 3-14! During this adoption special, you can adopt two cats and pay just one adoption fee. (An additional $12 rabies vaccine fee per cat is also required.)

Besides the adoptable cats at our animal care center in Englewood, some of our adoptable cats are also housed at our four satellite adoption centers at the Englewood Pet Supermarket, Venice Petco, North Port Pet Supermarket, and Port Charlotte Petco.

This adoption special has been designed to help more adoptable cats find homes in anticipation of the flood of pregnant mother cats and their kittens into animal shelters during the spring and summer. To learn more about helping Suncoast Humane Society to handle this rush by becoming a foster parent, please call 941-474-7884 or visit www.humane.org for more information.

Missing Dog Kia Finds Her Way Home

Missing Dog Found Her Way Home

Kia looked pretty confused when she found her way to us here at Suncoast Humane Society in early January 2015. A Good Samaritan had opened the garage door to his Englewood home and Kia walked right in! Because he wasn’t sure what to do, he came to us and brought us Kia. Two days later, Kia’s parents contacted us looking for her and we were able to reunite the family!

Kia was so happy to be reunited with her humans!
